Cubbies Coming to My Home Town
Straight off a four-game sweep of the defending National League Champion Colorado Rockies and a three-game sweep prior to that against the sorry Los Angeles Dodgers (I’m not a fan by any means), the Chicago Cubs make their way to sunny San Diego tonight to begin a three-game sweep (I mean series) against the hapless San Diego Padres. “Big Z” (Carlos Zambrano for those of you who don’t know who that is) will take the hill for the best team in baseball. The greatest part is that I’m going tonight and tomorrow night and Wednesday night. That’s right, I’m going to all three games and I’m freakin’ pumped. I can’t wait to see the Cubbies take the field in their blue alternates, which is automatic when Zambrano pitches. And I fully expect Cha Seung Baek’s first pitch of the game to be crushed into the left field seats by Cubs’ leadoff hitter Alfonso Soriano. If it isn’t I’m going to cry because the Padres are that horrible and the Cubs are honestly that good. I don’t want to jinx anything, but I honestly think it’s impossible that the Cubs couldn’t make the playoffs. In other words, in my mind it is a lock. When D-Lee and company aren’t pounding the asian for a couple innings, before Buddy Black has to mercifully plead for mercy and bring in some high schooler to pitch, Zambrano will shutting down the worst hitting team ever assembled in major league history. Man you would think I really don’t like the Padres. Actually, they’re my third favorite team, I’m just telling it like it is. As I’m writing this I’m listening to AC/DC and guess what song just came up…that’s right Hell’s Bells. Let’s just say I really don’t expect to hear that song once this week at Petco Park. If I sound cocky about my team that hasn’t won a title in exactly 100 years, well I am. I am so much that I have $35 riding on it. I honestly believe this is the year and I’m so glad I get to see at least a few of the games that are going to be a part of the magical year. Go Cubs Go!
